Midsummer Magic
The Summer Solstice Resonates in Folktales and Songs from Many Lands
with Diane Edgecomb accompanied by Margot Chamberlain (Celtic harp)
Drawn from cultures all over the world, Midsummer Magic is a story and music celebration of the Summer Solstice. This delightful and entertaining performance brings alive old Celtic legends of transformation magic, flower lore, tree-spirits and fireflies. Midsummer Eve is traditionally a time of magic, a transition point in nature, when the fairy world can join with our own. Edgecomb relates ancient solstice legends that speak of this transformation along with entertaining nature stories. This one hour performance is suitable for adults and an older family audience (ages 8 and up)
The Winter Solstice
Myth, Music and Song to Celebrate the Season
with Diane Edgecomb and musicians Margot Chamberlain (Celtic harp) & Tom Megan (keyboard, accordion, guitar and synthesizer)
Master Storyteller Diane Edgecomb accompanied by Celtic Harpist Margot Chamberlain
and multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan
offers a fascinating look at the legends behind our holiday traditions. Classic evergreen lore, haunting legends of light and humorous tales are surrounded by traditional and original music and song. The performance draws from Celtic, Nordic, British, Native American, Greek and contemporary material in order to bring new meaning to winter nature traditions. The haunting legend of the Mistletoe from Scandanavian folklore, humourous Wassail traditions from England, and the poignant Greek legend of the Halcyon days of peace are just a few of the pieces. Songs and sing-along moments evocative of the season, a traditional wassail bowle and lovely instrumental melodies on Celtic harp and synthesizer round out the event.

The Winter Solstice can be either a one hour or a two hour event (with intermission) suitable for adults and for an older family audience (ages 12 and up)
For a humorous addition, The Winter Solstice can also include Diane's hilarious adaptation of New Age Gawain and the Green Knight. New Age Gawain ( a tale for the New Year) can also be booked separately for holiday and New Year's events.
Along with Margot Chamberlain, Diane has been researching and adapting Solstice myths for over 20 years. She has a wonderful variety of tales and legends that bring new meaning and delight to this seasonal event celebrated by cultures in many lands. The Winter Solstice a celebration of the Winter Solstice and Midsummer Magic a celebration of the Summer Solstice have rich legends and comedic pieces accompanied by the lyrical harp music of Diane's long time Collaborator Margot Chamberlain. Traditional recipes, folkloric charms and other seasonal touches round out the entertainment.
A few of Diane's solstice tales and Margot's music were featured on National Public Radio. Read the transcript here .
